Banffshire is located in the North/East of Scotland between Aberdeen and Inverness. Lush Highland scenery, a rich maritime heritage and warm, friendly people are just some of the reasons to visit this wonderful area. The beautiful Banffshire Coast lies on the Moray Firth. Banff and nearby Macduff are twin burghs, with Banff on the West bank and Macduff on the East bank of the mouth of the River Deveron. For the visitor to Banffshire, the two main coastal towns of Banff and MacDuff offer a popular aquarium, beaches, golf and fishing.

Also in the burghs is Duff House, designed by William Adam in 1730 and now part of the National Gallery of Scotland. Duff House was designed by William Adam and built between 1735 and 1740 as the seat of the Earls Fife. There have been an incredible variety of occupants and visitors to the House since it was built. There were the Duffs themselves, an ambitious family who acquired great wealth, power and status but were seldom lucky in love. Opened as a country house gallery after extensive restoration in 1995, Duff House now enjoys 5-star visitor attraction status.

Open to the public are the Wrack Woods, due south of Duff House. In the woods, there is an old ice house, a mausoleum, and a wonderful walk to one of the most beautiful secluded spots in the area. The place is known as the Bridge of Alvah, and a single-arch bridge spans the river Deveron. The same river is known for its great fishing for salmon and trout.
